Dehradun, 10 November 2025 — Under the directives of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has expedited the relocation and compensation process for property owners affected by the Aadhat Bazaar–Tehsil Chowk road widening project. In a significant step forward, MDDA facilitated the registration of two key properties in favor of the Public Works Department (PWD) and disbursed compensation of approximately ₹5 crore on the spot through cheque.
Transparent Compensation and Allotment
MDDA Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari emphasized that the authority is committed to ensuring that public infrastructure projects like the Aadhat Bazaar relocation and road widening are carried out with minimal inconvenience to citizens. He stated that all affected property owners are being compensated and allotted plots with complete transparency.
In the first phase of the project, MDDA has transferred ₹20 lakh to the PWD to cover registration expenses for around 80 affected properties, calculated at ₹25,000 per registration.
Urban Transformation in Motion
The Aadhat Bazaar–Tehsil Chowk road widening is a critical urban mobility project aimed at easing traffic congestion and enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the market area. “This initiative will not only streamline traffic in one of Dehradun’s busiest zones but also introduce new infrastructure such as footpaths, street lighting, organized parking, and beautification,” said Tiwari. “Our goal is to ensure timely and high-quality execution of all works.”
Legal and Coordinated Execution
MDDA Secretary Mohan Singh Barnia highlighted that the compensation and registration processes are being conducted in a legally sound and transparent manner. Continuous coordination with the PWD and other relevant departments is being maintained to ensure timely completion.
He added that the next phase will involve completing the registration and compensation for the remaining affected properties. “MDDA is consistently undertaking development projects that not only reshape the city’s landscape but also improve the quality of life for its residents,” Barnia noted.
