Dehradun, Dec. 20: The Mussoorie–Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has inaugurated a multiplex at the ISBT Mall, transforming the bus terminal into a modern transit-cum-entertainment hub. The initiative follows MDDA’s acquisition of the ISBT complex and subsequent upgrades aimed at improving passenger facilities, safety, and overall experience.

Enhancements at the terminal include beautification, sanitation drives, upgraded passenger amenities, and the creation of a children’s park. Officials said the goal is to position ISBT Dehradun among the country’s top ten modern bus terminals, making it not only a transport hub but also a landmark for the city.

With the multiplex now operational, selected through a transparent tender process, visitors can enjoy Bollywood and Hollywood films. In the coming months, shopping outlets, food courts, and other facilities will be added, offering travelers and residents a one-stop destination for transit, shopping, and leisure.

MDDA Vice-Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari said the comprehensive development of the ISBT complex is a priority. “The multiplex will boost entertainment as well as economic activity. Upcoming facilities will further establish ISBT as a modern transit-commercial hub. MDDA is committed to expanding public amenities and planned urban development,” he noted.

MDDA Secretary Mohan Singh Barnia added that the multiplex operations have begun transparently under the selected company. “New facilities will be introduced in phases, benefiting both passengers and local citizens. Continuous monitoring of cleanliness, safety, and service standards is being ensured to maintain quality,” he said.
