Bengaluru: A scandal erupted in Karnataka’s political and administrative circles after an obscene video allegedly featuring a senior IPS officer of DGP rank surfaced online late Monday night. The video, which spread rapidly across social media platforms, has prompted the state government to order a formal investigation.
The officer in question, Ramachandra Rao, is purportedly seen in the footage engaging in objectionable acts with three different women inside his office. The viral clip has triggered widespread embarrassment for the police establishment and stirred intense debate in political corridors.
Government Orders Probe, Suspension
Amid mounting controversy, the Karnataka government moved swiftly, suspending Rao with immediate effect and initiating an inquiry into the matter. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah assured that the investigation would be impartial and thorough. “The authenticity of the video will be verified, and once the truth is established, appropriate disciplinary action will follow,” he said.
Officer Denies Allegations
Meanwhile, Rao has dismissed the video as fake, claiming that it was fabricated to malign his reputation. His denial has added another layer of complexity to the case, with questions now being raised about the source and credibility of the footage.
Political Ripples
The incident has sent shockwaves through Karnataka’s political landscape, with opposition parties seizing on the controversy to question the government’s handling of senior officials. The unfolding investigation is expected to determine whether the video is genuine or doctored, a finding that could have significant implications for both the officer and the administration
