Uttarakhand Writing New Stories of Development and Governance: CM Dhami
Haridwar, March 7 — Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Uttarakhand is scripting “new stories of development and good governance.”
Addressing a public gathering, Dhami recalled the 2022 assembly elections, saying the people of Uttarakhand “broke all myths” and gave the government a massive mandate. He credited the removal of Article 370, implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), and the introduction of three new criminal laws, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, as landmark steps towards realizing the vision of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.

National Achievements and Cultural Revival
The Chief Minister praised Shah’s leadership in curbing terrorism and Naxalism, noting that areas once plagued by unrest are now progressing. He highlighted the hoisting of the tricolor at Lal Chowk in Srinagar as a symbol of restored pride. Dhami also pointed to cultural milestones such as the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, Mahakal Lok in Ujjain, and the reconstruction of Kedarnath and Badrinath temples.
He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and Home Minister for approving ₹500 crore for the upcoming 2027 Kumbh in Haridwar, calling it a boost to Sanatan tradition.

Economic Growth and Investment
Dhami said Uttarakhand’s economy has grown by more than 1.5 times in four years, with the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) rising 7.23 percent last year and per capita income increasing by 41 percent. The state budget has expanded from ₹60,000 crore to over ₹1 lakh crore, while more than 20,000 new industries and 1,700 startups have been established.
He highlighted the 2023 Global Investment Summit, which secured agreements worth ₹3.56 lakh crore, with projects worth over ₹1 lakh crore already grounded.
National Recognition and Sports Achievements
The Chief Minister noted Uttarakhand’s top ranking in NITI Aayog’s Sustainable Development Index for 2023–24. The state has also won national awards in tourism, aviation, and sports. Hosting G20 events and the National Games further showcased Uttarakhand’s growing stature, with local athletes winning over 100 medals and securing 7th place in the tally.

Governance and Security Measures
Dhami emphasized Uttarakhand’s historic implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), calling it a step towards social justice and equality. He said the state is taking strict action against illegal infiltrators through Operation Kaalnemi and verification drives, while a new land law has been enacted to prevent illegal purchases in hill regions.
