Dehradun-A grand international literary conference celebrating the works of Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank was organized at Sahitya Akademi to mark 150 successful weeks of the weekly literary series Ravivariya Kahani Varta. Organized by the Himalaya Virasat Trust, the event honoured Dr. Nishank with the prestigious Katha Samrat Samman.
Since 2023, the online literary platform has brought together scholars, writers and literature enthusiasts from India and abroad for discussions on Dr. Nishank’s stories and literary contributions.
Chief guest Prof. K. G. Suresh praised the initiative for revitalizing literary dialogue, while noted poet Ashok Chakradhar highlighted the emotional depth and social relevance of Nishank’s writings.
The ceremony also celebrated Dr. Nishank’s global literary achievements, including honours from London, Mauritius and international literary organizations.
‘Lekhak Gaon Emerging as a Hub of Positive Change’: Kumar Vishwas Inspires Youth at Literary Conclave
Celebrated poet and storyteller Kumar Vishwas described Lekhak Gaon as a growing center of positive transformation while addressing a national seminar organized on the birth anniversary of renowned Hindi poet Sumitranandan Pant.
Speaking to young participants, Dr. Vishwas said, “I have come to give you dreams, not sell them,” urging students to spend less time on mobile phones and more time reading literature. The seminar on “Sumitranandan Pant Sahitya Paryatan Path” was jointly organized by the Uttarakhand Bhasha Sansthan, Uttarakhand Open University and Lekhak Gaon.
The event featured poetry recitations by children, a documentary screening, and literary discussions. Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said Lekhak Gaon is emerging as a national centre for literature, culture and creative dialogue.
Ruskin Bond Festival Turns Lekhak Gaon into a Celebration of Literature and Culture
The Lekhak Gaon resonated with literature, music and cultural spirit during the vibrant Ruskin Bond Festival, organized jointly by the Ruskin Bond Foundation and StoneX Global.
Former Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and former Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi praised the initiative for promoting creativity, education and Indian cultural values among youth.
The festival featured poetry, panel discussions, film screenings and the unveiling of a statue honouring Ruskin Bond. Poet Priya Malik delivered a moving performance, while celebrated folk singer Meena Rana concluded the evening with a colourful cultural presentation.
