MDDA Seals Two Platforms Over Unauthorized Construction in Mussoorie

Mussoorie, August 25: The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has continued its drive against illegal construction and unauthorized land development in its jurisdiction. As part of this ongoing campaign, the authority carried out a sealing operation on Tuesday in the Mussoorie area for construction undertaken without an approved building plan and mandatory permissions.

According to MDDA officials, unauthorized construction was being carried out by landowner Hemant Kumar near Hanuman Temple on the Mussoorie-Dehradun Motor Road. During an inspection, authorities found that work was underway to construct two platforms using iron channels without obtaining the required approvals and sanctioned building plan.

The authority had earlier issued directions to the landowner and provided an opportunity to respond in accordance with statutory procedures. However, the reply submitted by the concerned party was found to be unsatisfactory. Consequently, MDDA proceeded with enforcement action and sealed both the illegally constructed platforms at the site.

MDDA officials reiterated that no construction activity undertaken without prior approval will be permitted within the authority’s jurisdiction. They warned that strict action will continue against unauthorized constructions and developments carried out in violation of sanctioned plans and building regulations. The authority also appealed to the public to obtain all necessary permissions and approved building plans from the concerned departments before commencing any construction work to avoid legal action later.

MDDA Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari stated that ensuring planned and regulation-compliant development remains a top priority for the authority. He emphasized that action is being taken against individuals undertaking construction without approved plans or mandatory permissions. Tiwari said that while development is important, adherence to urban planning norms and prescribed construction standards is equally essential, and no one will be allowed to violate the rules.

MDDA Secretary Mohan Singh Barniya said that the authority’s teams are continuously monitoring construction activities across the region. Unauthorized constructions are being identified and acted upon in accordance with the law. He stressed that obtaining prior approval before starting any building activity is mandatory and that strict action will be taken against violators.
