Dehradun: Under the guidance of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, a six-storey alternative building is being constructed at a cost of Rs 59.34 crore in the Secretariat complex, near Vishwakarma Bhawan. The building will house offices of officers, meeting rooms, a bank, a post office and parking. According to the Housing and State Property Department, the project will help streamline office arrangements and make better use of the available space.

Project Cost and Details

The project is under the State Property Department. Its government order was issued on March 26, 2025. The total sanctioned cost is Rs 5,934.71 lakh, of which Rs 4,127.05 lakh is earmarked for civil works and Rs 1,807.26 lakh for electrification.

The building is being constructed on a 34×74 metre plot, with 2,516 square metres of land available. The total built-up area across all floors, including the basement, will be 1,04,480 square feet.

Parking for 125 Vehicles

The basement will have parking for 25 cars and 100 two-wheelers, providing additional space for vehicles of officers and employees. The ground floor is proposed to have a State Bank of India branch, a post office, an extension lobby and a waiting room, giving visitors and staff a convenient place for banking and postal work.

Floor-wise Plan

  • First floor: Seven sectional offices and four under-secretary offices.
  • Second floor: A similar office arrangement. Both floors cover 14,934 square feet each.
  • Third floor: Offices of five additional secretaries along with their staff offices, offices of joint secretaries and a meeting room.
  • Fourth floor: Same area as the third floor, 14,934 square feet.

Offices for officers at various levels, along with the necessary support facilities, will thus be available in a single complex.
