Dehradun, November 21 — In a significant step to revive and promote Uttarakhand’s rich spiritual heritage, the Ghantakarna Katha Samiti has announced the organization of a grand three-day Ghantakarna Katha in Dehradun from January 9 to 11, 2026. The decision was taken during the committee’s first official meeting, presided over by Chairman Sushant Gairola in a cordial and collaborative atmosphere.
The event will be held at the community park in Tehri Nagar, chosen for its capacity to accommodate a large number of devotees and to foster a spiritually uplifting environment across the region.
Honoring Tradition, Uniting Communities
The committee resolved to formally invite priests and administrators from all Ghantakarna temples across Uttarakhand to participate in this historic gathering. A joint preparatory meeting with temple representatives is scheduled for the first or second week of December to finalize the event framework, logistical support, and devotee facilitation measures.
Renowned storyteller Dinesh Simalty, popularly known as “Malaysia wale,” has been unanimously selected to narrate the sacred tale during the three-day event.
To commemorate the occasion, the committee will publish a special Ghantakarna Calendar as a souvenir for all attendees. Additionally, decorative welcome banners will be installed to enhance the cultural ambiance and grandeur of the event.
Beyond the Katha: Youth Engagement and Cultural Revival
The meeting also laid the foundation for broader social and cultural initiatives. The committee proposed regular events to engage youth, promote local talent, and foster a creative and inclusive community atmosphere. A permanent welcome platform will be established to streamline future events, and a grassroots outreach campaign will be launched to maximize public participation and awareness.
Speakers emphasized that the Ghantakarna Katha is not only a spiritual celebration but also a powerful medium for social cohesion and cultural pride. They underscored its potential to strengthen Uttarakhand’s folk traditions and communal harmony.
A Call to Devotees
The committee expressed hope that the upcoming event would become a landmark spiritual occasion for devotees across Uttarakhand. Concluding the meeting, members extended heartfelt gratitude to all participants and urged devotees to join in large numbers to make the event a resounding success.
