Dehradun: Secretary, Disaster Management and Rehabilitation, Vinod Kumar Suman on Saturday reviewed the situation arising from heavy rainfall, snowfall, and fog across various districts of Uttarakhand from the State Emergency Operations Centre.
During the review, he directed officials to restore public services at the earliest and remain on 24x7 alert mode. He emphasized that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is closely monitoring the situation and receiving regular updates, with clear instructions that public convenience must remain the top priority.
Acting on the Chief Minister’s directives, Secretary Suman examined the status of blocked roads, electricity and drinking water supply, as well as incidents of stranded vehicles and individuals. He instructed that snow-affected routes be cleared on priority, with road-opening machinery and resources kept fully active. Departmental teams were told to remain deployed in the field to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply.
He further directed district administrations to immediately undertake relief and rescue operations if reports of stranded persons or vehicles are received, with special vigilance in remote and sensitive areas. Stressing the impact of cold waves and snowfall, he urged officials to ensure the safety and care of vulnerable groups including the elderly, children, and other sensitive sections of society.
Suman also instructed all districts to keep emergency resources, manpower, and equipment in full readiness, while keeping the State Emergency Operations Centre continuously updated. He assured that the state government is keeping a close watch and that the disaster management system is fully active to deal with any emergency.
Appealing to citizens, the Secretary advised avoiding unnecessary travel during adverse weather, following administrative advisories, and contacting district authorities or emergency services in case of urgent need.
