Dehradun: A long‑forgotten party video at Mumbai has triggered a fresh political confrontation in Uttarakhand, drawing leaders from both the BJP and Congress into a heated exchange. The controversy began after a video of former BJP MLA Pranav Singh Champion surfaced on social media, showing him throwing money at a dancer. The clip’s re‑emergence has led to a volley of accusations among political rivals. The dispute now involves Kuwar Pranav Champion, Uttarakhand Congress president Ganesh Godiyal, and state BJP president Mahendra Bhatt, each responding publicly as the matter escalates.
Kuwar Pranav Champion Reacts to Viral Video
After his video went viral, Champion issued a sharp response through a video statement. He accused several Congress leaders of similar conduct in the past.
Champion alleged that during a visit to Mumbai for Congress campaigning, a dance performance was arranged on behalf of Ganesh Godiyal and claimed that former minister Harak Singh Rawat had also participated in the dance. He further stated that he himself had not engaged in such behaviour.
Godiyal Responds, Mentions BJP State President
In response, Congress chief Ganesh Godiyal released his own video. Without going into detail, he said that only BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt could clarify “who was dancing and who was not” during the party in question. Godiyal added that he had hosted a gathering at the time based on party expectations and had spent a significant amount of his own money. He criticised the current round of allegations as politically motivated.
Godiyal has already presented his side of the story, and the focus now shifts to what Mahendra Bhatt has to say on the matter.
