Dehradun: The 28th Inter-School State Roller Skating Championship 2026, organised under the aegis of the Inline Skater Hockey Association Uttarakhand, concluded successfully at Shakun Sports, Dehradun. The two-day championship witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 367 skaters representing schools and clubs from across the state.
Prominent institutions such as Welham Boys’ School, St George’s College, The Oasis, Hillgrange, GD Goenka, Tehri Skate Club, Ursa Haridwar Club and Adroit School were among those that took part in the event. Competitions were held in speed skating, inline hockey and marathon events, where players displayed remarkable skill, discipline and competitive spirit.
Association president Pankaj Bhardwaj said the championship aimed to provide a strong platform for young skaters at the state level and to prepare them for national competitions. He added that talented athletes identified during the event have been selected to represent Uttarakhand at the upcoming All India Roller Skating Championship 2026.
The championship was efficiently conducted by Suraj Dhiman, Chitranjali Negi, Shivam Bhardwaj, Abhimanyu Negi, Vashishth Khatri, Aryan Bhardwaj and Parv. Several coaches and officials, including Deepak, Abdul Sattar, Narendra, Samad and Paras, were also present and extended their support.
Strong Showing in Inline Hockey
In the inline hockey events held on April 18, Doon World Sports Academy secured first place in the girls’ category, followed by Ideal Convent in second place and Ursa in third. In the junior boys’ category, St George’s College, Mussoorie emerged as champions, while Welham Boys’ School finished as runners-up. The senior boys’ title was claimed by Mack India Club.
Krish Rathore Tops Marathon Event : In the marathon race, Krish Rathore won the gold medal, while Ayush Rawat and Aniruddh secured the silver and bronze medals respectively.
Prize Distribution Ceremony
The championship concluded with a prize distribution ceremony attended by Shakun Sports Academy Director Vijay Chandel, Force Fitness CEO Mohini Negi, Ideal Convent School Principal Pooja Bhardwaj and Reena Dhiman, who felicitated the winners. The successful organisation of the championship is expected to give fresh momentum to roller skating in Uttarakhand and inspire more young athletes to take up the sport competitively.
