Public Urged to Avoid Panic Buying as Fuel Availability Remains Normal
Dehradun: Public sector oil marketing companies have assured residents of Uttarakhand that the availability of petrol, diesel, and domestic LPG remains normal and uninterrupted across the state, amid growing public concerns over fuel supply and rising global energy uncertainties.
In a joint communication issued on Monday through Press Information Bureau Dehradun, major oil marketing companies including Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited stated that the overall fuel supply situation in Uttarakhand remains stable and fully adequate.
Officials clarified that the entire fuel supply chain — from terminals and depots to retail fuel outlets — is operating smoothly and efficiently without any disruption in the state.
The companies stated that fuel stocks are being continuously monitored across all districts and replenishment operations are being carried out regularly wherever required to maintain uninterrupted availability.
The statement further noted that supply of domestic LPG for household consumers is being prioritised and remains completely normal throughout Uttarakhand. Authorities said the situation is under close observation to ensure uninterrupted delivery to consumers across urban as well as remote regions.
Oil industry officials also emphasised that logistics coordination, stock movement, and retail operations are being managed through close inter-agency cooperation to maintain smooth fuel distribution across the state.
Appealing to the public to remain calm, IOCL Uttarakhand State Coordinator Krishna Kumar Gupta said there is no cause for concern regarding fuel availability in the state.
He urged consumers to avoid unnecessary fuel purchases and stockpiling, warning against panic buying behaviour that could create artificial pressure on supply systems.
“Citizens are requested to maintain normal consumption patterns and refrain from unnecessary storage of fuel,” he said.
Officials also advised the public to rely only on official communication channels of oil marketing companies for accurate and verified information related to fuel availability and distribution.
The clarification comes at a time when concerns regarding global geopolitical tensions, fluctuating crude oil prices, and energy security have triggered speculation and anxiety in several regions regarding possible disruptions in fuel supplies.
