DAV Inter College Concludes Seven-Day Summer Camp; Students Encouraged to Embrace Discipline and Service
Dehradun: The seven-day joint Summer Camp organized by the NCC and NSS units of DAV Inter College concluded successfully with an inspiring valedictory ceremony. Addressing students and teachers as the Chief Guest and Chief Trainer, Dr. Anil Verma, Chief Disaster Training Officer of the Youth Red Cross Society, emphasized that discipline, perseverance, and patience are the key pillars of success in life.

Dr. Verma said that the absence of any one of these qualities can become an obstacle to achieving one's goals. He urged students to make productive use of their summer vacations instead of spending excessive time on mobile phones, television, or laptops. He encouraged them to engage in activities that contribute to their physical, intellectual, and mental development, as well as social service. He also advised students to avoid fast food, adopt a healthy diet, and stay away from negative influences and anti-social elements.
Camp Patron and Principal Dr. S. K. Srivastava described the camp as highly successful and felicitated trainers Dr. Anil Verma, NCC Naval Officer Sudhir Pokhariyal, NSS Programme Officer Dr. Babita Sahotra, Shraddha Srivastava, Jyoti Kumar, and Satendra Kumar for their dedicated efforts in conducting the camp.
On behalf of the Youth Red Cross Society, Dr. Verma honored Principal Dr. S. K. Srivastava with a shawl, badge, and bouquet. All participating lecturers and trainers were also felicitated with ceremonial stoles.
Presiding over the programme, Dr. S. K. Srivastava highlighted that the long summer break offers an excellent opportunity for personality development. He encouraged students to utilize this valuable time in learning music, sports, science, vocational skills, and project work rather than wasting it on unproductive activities.
NCC Naval Officer Sudhir Pokhariyal informed that campers participated daily in physical exercises, running, yoga, and pranayama sessions after morning prayers. Students were encouraged to spend less time on smartphones and video games and instead participate in outdoor games and creative activities. The camp also included lessons on inspirational stories of great personalities, painting, calligraphy, current affairs, poetry recitation and writing, and patriotic songs.
During the camp, Dr. Anil Verma provided practical training in disaster management, fire safety, first aid, CPR, handwashing techniques, and preparation of ORS solutions. He also conducted awareness sessions on blood donation, eye donation, body donation, anemia, thalassemia, dengue prevention, tuberculosis eradication, de-addiction, road safety, rainwater harvesting, conservation of water and electricity, energy efficiency, Eat Right India, civic sense, and measures for social and national security.
NSS Programme Officer Dr. Babita Sahotra guided girl students on personal hygiene, self-protection, and self-reliance. English lecturer Shraddha Srivastava conducted sessions on English language learning, spoken English, and personality development. Political Science lecturer Jyoti Kumar discussed ways to remain composed and overcome challenges while pursuing life goals. Satendra Kumar, lecturer at GIC Kwanu, emphasized the importance of health and cleanliness in daily life.
The cultural segment featured vibrant performances by students led by team leader Anjali Chauhan. Participants including Deep Singh, Abhay, Mansi Kumari, Gauravi Chauhan, Vanshika, Anshika, Akash, Apoorv, Sanjana, Sakshi, Khushi, Chandni, and Upsan presented folk songs and patriotic performances that captivated the audience.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Camp Coordinator and NCC Officer Sudhir Pokhariyal, who expressed gratitude to all guests, trainers, and participants for making the camp a grand success.
