101 Units, Countless Lives: Blood Donation Camp Celebrates Spirit of Humanity

Dehradun: Reinforcing the message that blood donation is one of the noblest forms of humanitarian service, Shri Mahakal Seva Samiti organized a grand blood donation camp at the Shri Guru Ram Rai Darbar Sahib premises on the occasion of the Nirvana Day of the revered Brahmaleen Mahant Indresh Charan Das Maharaj. The camp witnessed an overwhelming response from donors and successfully collected 101 units of blood.

The event also marked a special moment as renowned blood donor and Disaster Management Training Officer of the Youth Red Cross Society, Dr. Anil Verma, was conferred with the prestigious “Raktveer” title in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to the cause of blood donation. Dr. Verma has donated blood 155 times, earning widespread respect as a dedicated champion of voluntary blood donation.

The camp was inaugurated with the blessings of Mahant Devendra Das Ji. Minister of State Ashok Verma, noted spiritual speaker and storyteller Pt. Subhash Joshi, Dr. Anil Verma, Indresh Hospital Blood Bank Officer Dr. Prachi Negi, PRO Dinesh Ratudi, and Mahakal Seva Samiti President Roshan Rana paid floral tributes to Brahmaleen Mahant Indresh Charan Das Ji and lit the ceremonial lamp.

Addressing the gathering, Pt. Subhash Joshi described blood donation as the finest example of service to humanity. He said that a blood donor voluntarily gives a part of himself to save the life of someone he may never know, transcending barriers of religion, caste, gender, and social status. Such selfless acts, he remarked, embody the true spirit of humanity.

Minister of State Ashok Verma termed blood donation as the highest form of altruism. He said that while everyone lives for themselves, a truly compassionate individual is one who helps alleviate the suffering of others and contributes to society's well-being.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Anil Verma praised Mahakal Seva Samiti and its President Roshan Rana for their unwavering commitment to the blood donation movement. He noted that organizing the 35th blood donation camp and maintaining continuity in such social initiatives is a remarkable achievement. He lauded the organizers for honouring guests and donors, and for creating an encouraging atmosphere by presenting certificates and gifts to blood donors.

Dr. Verma also addressed participants on the importance of voluntary blood donation, dispelling common myths and misconceptions associated with the practice. He highlighted the health benefits of blood donation and urged more people, especially the youth, to become regular donors.

Expressing gratitude for being honoured with the “Raktveer” title, Dr. Verma thanked Roshan Rana and the entire team of Shri Mahakal Seva Samiti for the recognition and their dedicated efforts toward saving lives through blood donation awareness.

Concluding the programme, camp coordinator Roshan Rana thanked Mahant Devendra Das Ji for his blessings and support. He also expressed gratitude to all blood donors, guests, blood bank officials, volunteers, and members of the Seva Samiti who contributed to the success of the event.

Officials from Shri Mahant Indresh Hospital, including Dr. Prachi Negi, Public Relations Officer Dinesh Ratudi, Coordinator Bipin Kumar, Mahakal Seva Samiti office-bearer Anushka Rana, Jitendra Malik, and several volunteers played a key role in the successful organization of the camp.

The event not only strengthened awareness about voluntary blood donation but also celebrated the collective spirit of compassion, service, and humanity that continues to inspire countless individuals to save lives through a simple yet powerful act.
