Char Dham, Hemkund Sahib Pilgrims’ Comfort Top Priority, Says CM Dhami; Urges Public to Avoid Rumors
State govt vows strict action over Karnaprayag, Nagarasu incidents; warns against misinformation_
Dehradun:, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday directed officials to ensure the comfort and safety of pilgrims undertaking the Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib yatras, calling it the state’s top priority.
Chairing a high-level meeting at the Secretariat, Dhami welcomed all pilgrims and tourists to “Devbhoomi Uttarakhand,” describing the state as a heritage of faith, culture, and nature. He urged visitors to enjoy their journey in the peaceful environment and not pay heed to rumors.
On the incidents reported in Karnaprayag and Nagarasu, the Chief Minister said the government, administration, and police are taking action after examining all aspects. “Action has already been taken against those found guilty, and strict action will continue based on established facts,” he said.
Dhami noted that both the Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib yatras are proceeding smoothly. Over 4 million pilgrims have visited the Char Dham shrines so far this year, while Hemkund Sahib has recorded 25,000 more pilgrims than the same period last year.
Highlighting Uttarakhand’s Sikh heritage, he said the state is home to Hemkund Sahib, Reetha Sahib, and Nanakmatta Sahib, which draw large numbers of devotees annually. “Respecting everyone is part of Devbhoomi’s culture. In line with ‘Atithi Devo Bhava,’ all visitors are welcomed and treated with respect,” he added.
The Chief Minister warned against the spread of misleading information on social media, stating that legal action would be taken against those posting inflammatory or divisive content. He stressed that people of all faiths have contributed to the nation’s progress and appealed for social harmony.
“All religious places are centers of faith and inspiration. No act that harms an individual’s dignity or hurts any religion will be tolerated in Uttarakhand. Issues can be resolved through dialogue and goodwill,” Dhami said.
The meeting was attended by Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee Chairman Hemant Dwivedi, Hemkund Sahib Management Trust Chairman Narendrajit Singh Bindra, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, senior officials, and police officers.
