Uttarakhand Strengthens Science Communication with Triple Platform Launch

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday inaugurated Vigyan Vani (88.8 MHz), Vigyan Drishyam, and Vigyan Dhara, three science communication initiatives developed under Vigyan Setu by the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (U-COST). Cabinet Minister Pradeep Batra, Sahaspur MLA Sahdev Singh Pundir, Science and Technology Secretary Nitesh Jha, and U-COST Director General Prof. Durgesh Pant were also present.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the launch marks the beginning of a stronger dialogue between science and society, ensuring that scientific knowledge reaches every citizen in a simple, timely, and accessible manner. He said science becomes truly meaningful only when its benefits reach the last person in society, which is the core objective of the Vigyan Setu initiative.

Prof. Durgesh Pant said a dedicated mobile application has also been developed to extend the reach of Vigyan Vani across India and abroad. The app is available on the Google Play Store and is expected to significantly expand access to science-based content.

Science and Technology Secretary Nitesh Jha described the initiative as a landmark step in promoting science, technology, and innovation in the state. He said the radio platform would help disseminate scientific knowledge to every household, particularly in resource-constrained areas, while also serving as an effective medium for communicating the state government's welfare schemes and public information.
