The dates for the winter closure of all Char Dham and Panch Kedar shrines have been finalised following Panchang calculations on the auspicious occasions of Vijayadashami and Bhai Dooj. This year’s Char Dham Yatra will conclude on November 25 with the closure of Badrinath Dham, while the other shrines will close earlier.
- Yamunotri Dham: The portals will close on October 23 at 12:30 PM on Bhai Dooj. Devotees will thereafter be able to worship Goddess Yamuna at her winter abode in Kharsali village. As per tradition, the palanquin of Lord Shani, considered Yamuna’s brother, will first be taken to Yamunotri before accompanying the goddess to Kharsali.
- Gangotri Dham: The shrine will close on October 22 at 11:36 AM on the occasion of Annakoot festival. During the winter months, devotees will offer prayers to Goddess Ganga at her temple in Mukhba village.
- Badrinath Dham: The portals will close for the season on November 25 at 2:56 PM. Ahead of the closure, the traditional Panch Pooja rituals will begin from November 21. The closing date was announced by the temple’s head priest, Rawal Amarnath Namboodiri, after due astrological calculations.
