Dehradun, January 25, 2026: The Mussoorie–Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) celebrated the 16th National Voters’ Day today with a formal oath-taking ceremony held at its headquarters. Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari administered the voter’s pledge to all officers and staff. Secretary Mohan Singh Barnya along with senior officials and employees were present during the event.
This year’s National Voters’ Day is being observed nationwide with the theme “My India, My Vote,” as directed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) through its communication dated January 15, 2026 (Letter No. 491/SVEEP-I/NVD/2025). Following the Commission’s guidelines, MDDA organized various awareness activities to highlight democratic values and the importance of free and fair voting.
During the ceremony, employees collectively pledged to uphold democratic principles, adhere to constitutional norms, and exercise their voting rights free from inducement, pressure, or discrimination. To enhance voter awareness, MDDA displayed the National Voters’ Day logo across its office premises, official stationery, promotional materials, and its website.
In compliance with ECI directions, photographs and media from the event were shared across social media platforms using the hashtag #NVD2026 to encourage broader public participation and inspire citizens to vote responsibly. MDDA stated that the initiative reinforces democratic consciousness among its workforce and emphasizes that an aware and fearless voter is essential to a strong democracy. The Authority will continue to undertake voter awareness activities in the future.
Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari said “National Voters’ Day is an important occasion to strengthen our democracy. Every citizen’s vote helps shape the country's future. By taking this pledge, MDDA employees have committed themselves to being responsible voters and promoting a positive electoral environment. Free, fair, and peaceful elections are the hallmarks of our democratic system. Exercising the right to vote without fear, pressure, or temptation forms the foundation of an empowered democracy. It is our collective duty to safeguard democratic values and motivate more citizens to participate in voting.”
Secretary Mohan Singh Barnya said “The oath ceremony held on National Voters’ Day reinforces democratic responsibility among employees. As per the Election Commission’s guidelines, MDDA has undertaken all necessary measures to promote voter awareness. Our goal is to ensure that the significance of voting reaches not only our office but all sections of society, encouraging people to exercise their franchise freely and confidently.”
