Dehradun: A one-day special training camp on disaster preparedness, fire safety, and first aid was organized at the State Women Welfare and Rehabilitation Centre (Nari Niketan), Kedarpuram, under the aegis of the District Red Cross Society. The session was led by Dr. Anil Verma, Chief Disaster Management Training Officer of the Youth Red Cross.
Participants were trained in handling natural disasters such as earthquakes, landslides, and flash floods, with a focus on preparedness, response, and post-disaster management. The fire safety module covered types of fires, principles of extinguishing flames, use of fire extinguishers, and treatment of burn injuries, including the “Rule of Nine.”

Under first aid training, attendees received both theoretical and practical instruction in CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation) to revive cardiac arrest victims. Awareness sessions were also conducted on blood donation, eye and body donation, thalassemia, and substance abuse prevention.
The training featured live demonstrations of CPR by the medical team under the guidance of Project Manager Sanjeev Ijker, with active participation from healthcare staff.
On the occasion, Dr. Anil Verma was felicitated for his extraordinary contribution to society, having donated blood 155 times, earning recognition at the national level. Officials including Superintendent Sonal and Project Managers Satyanarayan Rai and Sanjeev Ijker lauded the camp as highly impactful and beneficial.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, marking a successful initiative aimed at equipping individuals with critical life-saving skills.
