Dharampur (Assembly Constituency-18) is set to witness an extensive administrative exercise as preparations intensify for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll. During a special training session held on Monday, officials from the Election Department briefed representatives of political parties, Booth Level Agents (BLA-1 and BLA-2), Booth Level Officers (BLOs), councillors, and supervisors about the programme, describing it as a vital initiative to strengthen democratic processes.
Officials emphasized that ensuring an error-free, transparent and fully updated voter list remains the Election Commission’s top priority. Field-level personnel have been directed to carry out their responsibilities with utmost diligence.
The training session was attended by representatives from polling booths numbered 01 to 118. Among those present were BJP’s BLA-1 Sushil Kumar Gupta and Congress BLA-1 Ashish Kumar. AERO officials Abhilasha Bhatt and Shikha Kandwal, along with a large number of councillors, BLA-2 members and supervisors, were also in attendance. Authorities underlined that close coordination between administration and political parties would be crucial for the success of the revision exercise.
Door-to-Door Campaign from June 8
Officials announced that the Special Intensive Revision programme will formally commence across Uttarakhand on June 8, 2026. Under the campaign, BLOs will conduct house-to-house visits to distribute enumeration forms.
According to the schedule, form distribution will take place between June 8 and June 17, while the collection of duly filled forms will be carried out from June 18 to July 7. Authorities stated that the entire process will be closely monitored and completed within the stipulated timeframe at each booth level.
During the session, BLA-2 members were instructed to work in close coordination with BLOs and prepare advance action plans for their respective areas. Officials stressed that no eligible voter should be left out during the door-to-door exercise.
Ensuring coverage of all eligible citizens remains a priority, and BLOs, BLA-2 members, supervisors, and public representatives have been asked to work collectively to achieve this goal.
Focus on Error-Free Electoral Roll
Using a detailed presentation, officials explained the entire SIR process, including instructions on how to correctly fill enumeration forms and ensure necessary signatures from voters or their family members.
They highlighted that even minor inaccuracies in the voter list can impact the democratic process. Therefore, strict verification of all information will be carried out to maintain accuracy and credibility.
Scrutiny of Discrepancies and Unmapped Voters
The training also included discussions on logical discrepancies in voter data. Officials stated that voters whose records show inconsistencies will be issued notices as per established procedures.
Special attention will also be given to “unmapped voters.” Authorities clarified that such individuals will receive separate notices, and their details will be verified to ensure the electoral roll is complete, organized, and authentic.
Guidelines on Forms 6, 7, and 8
BLA-2 members were informed about the regulated distribution of Form-6 (new voter registration), Form-7 (deletion), and Form-8 (corrections). These forms, along with enumeration forms, will be provided to BLOs in fixed daily quantities.
Officials made it clear that Election Commission guidelines must be followed strictly, and any negligence at any stage will not be tolerated. Regular monitoring will ensure swift resolution of field-level issues.
Political Parties Asked to Extend Support
Representatives of political parties, especially BLA-1 members, were urged to ensure early appointments to vacant BLA-2 positions before the start of the campaign. Adequate manpower at the grassroots level is considered essential for effective coordination with BLOs.
Authorities reiterated that political parties play a vital role in maintaining transparency and fairness in the electoral process, and their cooperation will enhance the effectiveness of the revision drive.
Queries Addressed During Training
The session concluded with an interactive segment where councillors, BLA-2 members, and supervisors raised queries related to implementation challenges. Officials addressed these concerns in detail and offered practical suggestions to tackle area-specific issues.
Participants were encouraged to actively engage in the door-to-door campaign and treat the revision work with seriousness.
“Accurate Voter List Vital for Strong Democracy”
Electoral Registration Officer for Dharampur, Gaurav Chatwal, stated that the primary objective of the Special Intensive Revision is to ensure inclusion of every eligible citizen in the voter list while maintaining complete accuracy and transparency.
He assured that all activities will be carried out systematically within the Election Commission’s timelines. Chatwal also urged BLOs, BLA-2 members, supervisors, and public representatives to work in coordination, emphasizing that a 100% accurate electoral roll is essential for strengthening democracy.
He further added that special measures will be taken to ensure that no voter faces inconvenience during the process, and all issues will be addressed promptly.
