‘Didi Ki Library’, modern gym and upgraded auditorium inaugurated to strengthen education, youth fitness and self-reliance in the region
Khatima: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday inaugurated a series of development projects worth nearly Rs 89 lakh in Khatima, focusing on education, youth empowerment, fitness and public infrastructure. The projects were inaugurated during the Chief Minister’s visit to the Block Development Office campus in his home constituency.
Among the major initiatives unveiled were the newly built “Didi Ki Library” constructed at a cost of Rs 55 lakh, a modernized gymnasium renovated for Rs 7.5 lakh and the upgraded Block Auditorium developed at a cost of Rs 26.5 lakh. The Chief Minister said these facilities would provide students, youth and local residents with better opportunities for education, skill development and healthy living.
Addressing the gathering, Dhami emphasized that education is the strongest foundation for the progress of society. He said the newly established library would become an important knowledge centre for students and aspirants preparing for competitive examinations. Equipped with modern facilities and a peaceful study environment, the library is expected to help young learners focus on their goals and strengthen their academic preparation.
The Chief Minister noted that many talented students from rural and border areas often remain deprived of quality study resources due to financial and infrastructural limitations. “This library will serve as a blessing for such students. It will not merely be a collection of books, but a platform to turn the dreams of youth into reality,” he said.
Dhami also highlighted the state government’s commitment to women empowerment, stating that the library would be managed by women associated with self-help groups, thereby creating additional livelihood opportunities and increasing their income.
Calling the renovated gymnasium another major step toward youth welfare, the Chief Minister said that fitness and discipline are essential for building a healthy society. He said the modern fitness centre, equipped with improved facilities and exercise equipment, would encourage young people to adopt healthy lifestyles and stay away from drug abuse. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India Movement, Dhami said the Uttarakhand government is continuously expanding sports and wellness facilities to inspire youth toward positive and disciplined living.
He further reiterated the government’s commitment to balanced development in sectors such as education, healthcare, sports, employment and infrastructure. “Khatima is not only my home constituency but also a centre of my commitment toward inclusive and continuous development,” the Chief Minister said, adding that these initiatives would provide a strong foundation for students and youth to move towards a self-reliant future.
Several public representatives and senior district officials were present during the inauguration ceremony.
