Almora: Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday visited Almora and inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth around ₹138 crore aimed at strengthening infrastructure and public services in the district.
The programme was held at the newly constructed administrative building of Soban Singh Jeena University, where the Chief Minister inaugurated 17 projects worth ₹112.11 crore and laid the foundation stones for nine projects costing ₹25.97 crore.
Addressing the gathering, Dhami said the projects would provide a major boost to roads, education, healthcare, drinking water, irrigation, urban development, and rural infrastructure in the region. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that the benefits of development reach the last person in society, particularly those living in mountainous areas.
The Chief Minister said continuous efforts are being made across Uttarakhand to improve road connectivity, health services, educational infrastructure, and drinking water facilities. He described Almora as culturally, historically, and tourism-wise an important district, adding that the new projects would accelerate both social and economic development in the region.
Among the major projects inaugurated were multi-level parking facilities in Almora town and KMOU Bus Stand, drinking water schemes in rural areas, road improvement projects, flood protection works, and the administrative building and Vice-Chancellor’s residence of Soban Singh Jeena University.
The foundation stones laid by the Chief Minister included road strengthening and blacktopping works in several assembly constituencies, beautification of the Shri Sam Devta Temple in Danya Bazaar, construction of classrooms at Government Inter College Mahakaleshwar, and maintenance works on key motor roads in the district.
Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta, District Panchayat Chairperson Hema Gaida, Ranikhet MLA Dr. Pramod Nainwal, Vice-Chancellor Satpal Singh Bisht, District Magistrate Anshul Singh, and senior administrative officials were also present on the occasion.
