Mahendragarh: In a significant initiative to promote holistic health, wellness, and India's rich knowledge traditions, the Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendragarh, has launched a five-day online Yoga Awareness Campaign in the run-up to International Yoga Day. The programme aims to create greater awareness among students and the general public about yoga, healthy living, Ayurveda, and India's cultural heritage.
The campaign is being organized under the guidance and leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, reflecting the university's commitment to fostering physical, mental, and spiritual well-being through educational outreach and community engagement.
Providing details of the initiative, Prof. Dinesh Gupta, Dean, School of Interdisciplinary and Applied Sciences, said that the campaign has been designed to engage participants through a series of online quizzes focused on diverse themes related to health, yoga, and Indian knowledge systems.
Each day of the campaign will feature a quiz based on a specific topic. The subjects include general awareness, yoga and health awareness, awareness about the World Yogasana Championship 2026, general knowledge related to the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, and understanding body constitution according to the principles of Ayurveda. The initiative seeks to encourage participants to explore the scientific, philosophical, and cultural dimensions of these subjects while promoting healthy lifestyle practices.
The campaign is being coordinated by the Department of Yoga, with active involvement from faculty members Dr. Ajay Pal, Dr. Naveen, and Dr. Pradeep Kumar, who are contributing to the successful implementation of the programme.
University officials said that the awareness campaign aligns with the broader objectives of International Yoga Day, which emphasizes the importance of yoga as a tool for physical fitness, mental well-being, and overall harmony. By integrating yoga education with elements of Indian philosophy and traditional healthcare systems, the university aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of India's knowledge heritage.
The initiative is expected to attract participation from students, scholars, and members of the wider community, creating a platform for learning and engagement. It also reflects the university's efforts to connect younger generations with India's traditional wisdom while addressing contemporary health and wellness challenges.
CUH officials described the campaign as an important step toward strengthening awareness about yoga, Ayurveda, and Indian cultural values. They expressed confidence that such programmes would inspire participants to adopt healthier lifestyles and develop a deeper appreciation of India's rich intellectual and spiritual traditions.
With International Yoga Day approaching, the five-day campaign serves as a meaningful effort to promote wellness, knowledge, and cultural awareness among diverse sections of society.
