MDDA: Public Feedback Shapes Dehradun Master Plan 2041

Dehradun, July 10: The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has intensified its public outreach campaign for the Dehradun Master Plan 2041, with residents, landowners, social organisations and other stakeholders actively participating in consultation camps across the city. During a public hearing held for Sector-05, citizens put forward suggestions and objections on key issues including land use, road networks, traffic management, protection of green spaces, public amenities, and residential and commercial development. MDDA officials recorded all submissions for further review.

The hearing was attended by MDDA Vice-Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari, Secretary Mohan Singh Barnia, Joint Secretary Gaurav Chatwal, and other senior officials. They reiterated that the Master Plan 2041 is not merely a land-use document but a comprehensive roadmap for Dehradun’s urban growth, environmental conservation, infrastructure development and expansion over the next 15 years. Calling the Master Plan a “vision document for the future of Dehradun,” Tiwari said public participation is essential to make the plan more inclusive, practical and people-centric.

MDDA officials noted that each area of the city faces unique challenges and requirements, making local feedback crucial in shaping a balanced and future-ready development strategy. All objections and suggestions received during the consultations will undergo technical and legal scrutiny before being considered for inclusion in the final plan.

MDDA Vice-Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari said the public consultation campaign for the Dehradun Master Plan 2041 is aimed at directly involving citizens in the city’s development planning process. He noted that suggestions received from various sectors would help make the Master Plan more inclusive, practical and responsive to public needs. Tiwari emphasized that the authority’s objective is to create a sustainable and forward-looking development model for Dehradun by striking a balance between urban growth, environmental conservation and improved civic amenities.

The public consultation drive, which began on July 6, will continue until July 21, 2026, covering all 12 sectors under the planning area. The authority aims to create a development framework that balances urban growth with environmental sustainability while meeting the needs of future generations. The next public hearing for Sector-06 will be held at Laksuriya Farm, Kisanpur, and citizens have been encouraged to participate in large numbers.

Secretary Mohan Singh Barnia said the consultation process is being conducted with complete transparency and that every suggestion and objection will be carefully examined by experts before any decision is taken. He urged residents to actively contribute to the city’s planned and sustainable development.
