Bhopal: A new book titled “Mass Media, Youth and Media Literacy” authored by Dr. Pradeep Daheriya, Senior Faculty Member in the Department of Mass Communication at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication (MCU), Bhopal, was formally released during the university’s ongoing Artificial Intelligence Faculty Development Programme (AI-FDP).
The book was unveiled by a distinguished panel of academicians and media experts, including MCU Vice-Chancellor Vijay Manohar Tiwari, IIIT Bhopal Director Prof. Ashutosh Kumar Singh, noted media and information technology expert Balendu Sharma Dadhich, Head of the Department of Mass Communication Prof. Sanjay Dwivedi, Head of the Department of Advertising and Public Relations Prof. Pavitra Shrivastava, and Prof. Aarti Sarang, Chairperson of the Library and Information Science Department.
Dr. Daheriya, who has been actively engaged in media education and research for over fifteen years, focuses in the book on the relationship between mass media, youth, and media literacy. At a time when media literacy is emerging as a critical global concern, the author highlights its importance in helping citizens navigate the modern information ecosystem and make informed decisions.
The book provides a comprehensive analysis of various forms of mass communication, including print media, radio, television, digital platforms, the internet, and social media. It examines the evolving role of these media in shaping public understanding and influencing younger generations. The foreword to the book has been written by Vijay Manohar Tiwari, senior journalist, thinker, and Vice-Chancellor of the university.
Speaking on the occasion, the guests welcomed the publication and described it as a valuable academic resource for students, researchers, and media professionals, particularly in the field of media literacy and contemporary communication studies.
