Dehradun: In a major relief measure, the Uttarakhand government has announced that ration card holders will receive food grains for three months—April, May, and June—in a single distribution during April 2026. Orders in this regard have been issued by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.
The decision, taken under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, will benefit Antyodaya and Priority Household families, ensuring they receive their full quota in advance. The move aims to reduce repeated visits to ration shops and provide greater convenience to beneficiaries.
Biometric Verification Mandatory
To ensure transparency, the department has made it mandatory for beneficiaries to complete biometric authentication through e-PoS machines. However, despite receiving three months’ ration together, cardholders will need to carry out three separate biometric transactions—one for each month.
Relief for Missed Beneficiaries
The government has also extended relief to those who could not collect their ration in March 2026. Such beneficiaries will be allowed to claim their pending quota through online systems until April 15, 2026.
Ensuring Transparent Distribution
Officials said the online and biometric-based system will ensure that food grains reach the rightful beneficiaries and eliminate irregularities in distribution.
The department has urged all eligible ration card holders to collect their entitlement from nearby fair price shops on time and follow the prescribed process to ensure smooth and hassle-free distribution.
