MCU Faculty Launches India’s First Academic Printing and Packaging App

Abhishek Pandey Developed India’s First Dedicated Academic Printing & Packaging App-‘Master Printpack’

Bhopal, May 19: In a significant technological and academic achievement, the Department of New Media Technology (NMT) at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication has launched a first-of-its-kind educational mobile application, Master Printpack, designed exclusively for students and researchers in the printing and packaging domain.

The app has been developed in-house by Assistant Professor Abhishek Pandey and is now officially live on the Google Play Store. Developed under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Vijay Manohar Tiwari and Head of Department Dr. P. Shashikala, the application has also received certification from the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC), adding to its credibility and global compliance standards.

A Digital Learning Hub for Printing & Packaging Technology

Positioned as India’s first dedicated academic evaluation and educational utility platform for printing and packaging studies, Master Printpack aims to bridge the gap between industrial knowledge and digital learning. The app caters to students and researchers engaged in subjects such as printing technology, smart packaging, sustainable ink testing, spectrodensitometry, and packaging redesign.

Key Features of the App

One of the major highlights of the application is its database of 401 expert-curated multiple-choice questions (MCQs) covering industrial standards, spectrodensitometry, packaging innovation, and advanced printing technologies. The app uses a random shuffle logic to create a dynamic assessment experience for users.

The platform also includes a live global leaderboard, allowing students to compete in real time and benchmark their technical proficiency against peers.

To ensure privacy and security, the app follows advanced data protection practices through a “Hermetic Data Seal” mechanism, where users’ email IDs remain fully protected and only display names are visible publicly.

Additionally, the app has integrated Google AdMob, enabling sustainable operational support and future technical upgrades through a structured advertising ecosystem.

90 Days of Development, 14 Days of Rigorous Testing

The development and deployment of Master Printpack took nearly 90 days. Before its public release, the application underwent an intensive 14-day closed testing audit involving 27 B.Tech Printing and Packaging students along with faculty members from the NMT department.

Feedback collected during the testing phase was used to refine the user interface and strengthen privacy features, ensuring a smoother and more secure user experience.

A First-of-Its-Kind Academic Innovation

While existing apps in the printing and packaging sector largely focus on industrial exhibitions or provide only generic information, Master Printpack stands out as the country’s first specialised academic assessment platform in this field.

Its integration of advanced industrial subjects with real-time competitive ranking makes it a pioneering digital initiative in technical education and professional benchmarking for the printing and packaging industry.

The launch marks yet another milestone for the university’s New Media Technology department and highlights the growing role of indigenous educational technology innovations in India’s higher education ecosystem.
